The Lycée Scientifique, a special government school in Togo, is home to the top 120 high school students in science and math. These students represent different tribal groups and religions from all over the country. Togo missionary Jane Schmitz had a yearning to reach them with the gospel. After much prayer, she approached the principal of the school and offered a class on The Story of Hope in French. Jane has always had a heart for evangelism and discipleship, and she was a part of the original group that helped launch Good Soil. The principal responded very favorably to the idea, since the materials being used were a study of the Bible, not a religion.

Jane's next challenge was to find a time when the students could meet. They have very rigid schedules and are extremely busy with their studies. She also desired young people who were truly committed. The product was two different study groups with a total of thirty-one students. Each student received a copy of The Story of Hope and a Bible. They met for twelve weeks studying the forty stories from The Story of Hope and the eight essential truths that emerge from God's Big Story – God, Man, Sin, Death, Christ, Cross, Faith, and Life (the ChronoBridge to Life). These very bright kids asked great tough questions and really interacted with the material. They wrestled with the idea of the free will of man and the theory of evolution. They analyzed and discussed the eight truths.

At the end of the twelve weeks, all thirty-one of the students said they believed the story and the explanation of the eight essential truths. Jane asked them to individually sign and date the Personal Faith Response page, and then to give her their name written on a piece of paper indicating they had made that decision. Again, every one of the thirty-one students told her they had put their faith in Jesus alone for their salvation, two of them sharing they had done so earlier in their life!

Jane now faces the challenge of meeting with each to determine their understanding and help them move forward. Jane asks, "Pray for wisdom as to how best help them experience this salvation and grow." Pray also as she is seeking permission to show a video that summarizes and reinforces this chronological gospel story they have just studied. These gifted students now have the greatest gift of all!
