Good Soil Evangelism and Discipleship seeks to train and resource believers in Jesus Christ to present the gospel in a way that people clearly understand it, sincerely embrace it, and firmly hold on to it. The Roots of Faith Old Testament and New Testament courses – will they work in a local church? The response has been tremendous, as many people who had been Christians and regular church attenders for many years eagerly joined in along with folks who had had little Bible teaching. During the first 40 lessons the Sunday school attendance increased and people regularly commented on how much they were learning. →
With evangelism—“one size” does NOT fit all! “One size fits all,” in many industries, is an audacious claim that may not deliver what it promises. Often, people on both ends of the large-small spectrum end up being frustrated. “One size fits all” evangelism training programs and resources are common too. But, the consequences for a “misfit” with a gospel presentation can be much more serious than mere frustration; the consequences can be eternally damning. →
The Pennsylvania State Correctional Institution at Dallas, PA (SCI Dallas) is a medium-security prison for adult male felons. SCI Dallas houses more than 2,100 inmates, some 400 of whom are serving life without any possibility of parole. Ricardo Jackson, a chaplain at SCI Dallas, attended The Roots of Faith courses at ABWE, in order to be equipped to teach the courses to prison inmates. The class sessions were held on Monday evenings, with one of the inmates (Russell) assisting with some of the teaching. →
Ralf and Lena Schaechinger have served in their native land of Germany for many years. But they struggled with how they might be more effective in evangelism and discipleship. Then, they heard about a Good Soil seminar being taught in Madrid. Ralf made the necessary arrangements and went to the event. Excited, Ralf stayed up each evening after the training talking with Gil, the seminar facilitator. He said things like, “This is just what we need in Germany!” →
Eighty-two percent of Americans surveyed believe the statement “God helps those who help themselves” is a Bible verse. Sixty percent cannot name five of the Ten Commandments. And 12% believe that Joan of Arc was Noah’s wife. Over half of the graduating high school seniors surveyed believe that Sodom and Gomorrah were husband and wife. And we can be sure that these survey results will be even more distressing five years from now! →
